This extremely popular doughnut place in NYC is worth the trip (wherever you live). They make their cream/jelly filled doughnuts in a square shape with a whole in the middle, so that you get filling in every bite. Very cool to look at and eat (see post picture).
We have sampled the following doughnuts:
- coconut cream
- jelly filled
- valrhona chocolate
- tres leches
- wild blueberry
While we each had our own favorites, there was not one doughnut that we were unhappy with. The yeast doughnuts were light and airy and the cake doughnuts were moist and delicious. We have visited the store on the Lower East Side at 379 Grand Street. The store is small and has recently increased the store front space so you can sit and eat your doughnut if you like. But the space is small and it is almost always packed so I would suggest getting your doughnuts to go.
