Swensons Drive In
Swensons Drive In located in Akron, Ohio has been making burgers since 1952. Although, the founder, Wesley T. Swenson started making burgers out the back of his car in 1933, so this burger recipe goes back a long time. On our road trip, we were in need of a pit stop and our last drive-in experience was so good (A&W in Rhode Island), that I thought we would give it another try.
Swensons Drive In did not disappoint us! The place was staffed with young men who were clearly competing with each other to get the next sale. Every time a new car pulled in, the staff would run to greet the guests sometimes before they even put the car in park. This was great entertainment while we waited for our food to be cooked.
The menu is typical drive-in fare, consisting of burgers, fries, sodas and shakes but they have a wide range of unique flavors for each. Including, the “California” which is a grape flavored ginger-ale and the key lime shake. The burgers were juicy, the fries were crisp and the drinks were not only fun to try, they were delicious!
This is definitely a fun and tasty stop, I highly recommend the experience. For more information on Swenson’s Drive-In, please visit their website.
